I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has captivated the hearts of audiences worldwide with its unique blend of celebrity drama, survival challenges, and jungle antics. The Australian version of the hit reality TV show has been no exception.

I’m A Celeb brings together celebrities from various backgrounds, taking them away from their comforts to endure the rugged conditions of South Africa’s Kruger National Park. From gruesome eating challenges to facing their deepest fears, the celebrity contestants battle it out to win $100,000 for their chosen charity.

Since it started in 2015, the first nine seasons of the Australian version of the show had been hosted by veterinarian and television personality Dr Chris Brown, and comedian Julia Morris. In 2024 for the show’s tenth season, Julia co-hosted the show with wildlife warrior Robert Irwin.

From reality TV stars to sporting legends, comedians to musicians, these are the winners of I’m A Celeb Australia over the show’s ten-season history.

Season One, 2015 Winner

The first season of I’m A Celeb premiered in February 2015, bringing together a host of Australian and international celebrities like The Bachelor’s Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich, Masterchef’s Julie Goodwin, cricketer Merv Hughes, and Olympic swimmer Leisel Jones. After 45 days in the Kruger National Park, England cricketer Freddie Flintoff was crowned King of the Jungle, with AFL star Barry Hall and television presenter Chrissie Swan coming in second and third, respectively.

At the time of his win, Freddie Flintoff explained to News.com.au how he wasn’t sure he was up for a stint in the jungle.

“Right up until the last minute of coming in, I wasn’t sure if I was doing the right thing,” he explained.

“I’m shocked. I’m stuck for words a little bit. I never expected to get this far, geez. It is a lot to take in really. I’m shocked, surprised, pleased; I’ve got a lot of emotions going round at the minute. I’m humbled.”

Season Two, 2016 Winner

AFL player and radio host Brendan Fevola won the second season of I’m A Celeb, beating out singer-songwriter Anthony Callea, cricket legend Shane Warne, Ironwoman Courtney Hancock, and The Bachelor’s Laurina Fleure.

In a kind gesture, Brendan split the $100,000 prize money with runner-up and NRL star Paul Harragon, giving $50,000 to his chosen charity.

“I know I’ve won the $100,000, but with the Shane Warne Foundation he’s able to donate money to other charities, so I’m going to give half, $50,000, to the [brain cancer charity] Mark Hughes Foundation, because he’s my best mate,” Brendan announced upon discovering his win.

Season Three, 2017 Winner

The third season of Australia’s I’m A Celeb required the 14 celebrities to stay in the African jungle for 46 days: the longest stint of any Australian season. Queer Eye’s Carson Kressley and actor Tom Arnold battled out local celebrities for the jungle crown. In the end, singer Casey Donovan won season three, with AFL star Dane Swan and actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte coming in second and third, respectively.

After her win, Casey Donovan shared with the Sydney Morning Herald how she felt about her time in the jungle.

“Looking back at the experience now, it has been such a great time and I have really tested myself and my abilities,” she reflected.

“I have no idea how I won.”

Season Four, 2018 Winner

In season four, 15 celebrities entered the jungle for a 45-day stay. It is the first season that we saw celebrities voluntarily withdraw from the competition, with tennis player Bernard Tomic and boxer Anthony Mundine both leaving the jungle early. Comedian Fiona O’Loughlin was crowned Queen of the jungle, with her $100,000 prize money going to Angel Flight.

Sitting atop the jungle throne after her win, the comedian could not hold back her happiness.

“I think I’ll be laughing til I’m 80… and that’s not far away by the way I feel today. I’m so tired and yet so happy,” she explained.

“I did not think six weeks ago I’d be sitting here. Bloody hell, I just won I’m A Celebrity.”

Season Five, 2019 Winner

Season Five saw 14 celebrities enter the African jungle. After 33 days in camp and 24 tucker trials, Hollywood entertainment correspondent Richard Reid won the I’m A Celeb crown, beating out Gogglebox’s Yvie Jones and AFL legend Shane Crawford.

Richard was in complete shock when speaking exclusively with TV WEEK, saying “I’m more gobsmacked than anything – I keep expecting that it’s all some kind of weird twisted joke!”

Season 6, 2020 Winner

Season six kicked off on January 5th, 2020, and 14 celebrities entered the jungle. There were 22 tucker trials, with celebrities like comedian Tanya Hennessy, presenter Tom Williams, and radio personality Myf Warhurst vying for the I’m A Celeb crown.

Chef and television host Miguel Maestre came out on top after 30 days in camp, with AFL player Dale Thomas and performer Rhonda Burchmore coming in second and third, respectively.

After his win, Miguel took the time to thank those most important to him.

“I want to say thank you to the people I look up to, the people I love the most,” he said.

“That is my family, my beautiful wife Sascha, Claudia and Morgan. I want to say thank you to the family back at home supporting.”

Season Seven, 2021 Winner

After six years in the African jungle, the COVID pandemic forced I’m A Celeb to stay in Australia for the first time in the show’s history. Season Seven ended up being pre-recorded in Dungay, New South Wales, and the celebrities were in camp for 20 days.

After 21 tucker trials, television and radio personality Abbie Chatfield was crowned queen of the jungle. In an exclusive chat with TV WEEK, the reality TV star shared how she felt after she was crowned.

“I really couldn’t believe it,” Abbie said.

“Like a year ago I was the Bachelor villain, and now I’ve won the popular vote.”

Season Eight, 2022 Winner

Season eight was the second season to be pre-recorded in Australia due to the pandemic, and it featured 13 celebrities, including Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil, Masterchef’s Poh Ling Yeow, and Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm, all vying for the I’m a Celeb crown. In the end, television and radio host Dylan Lewis came out on top, beating out singer-songwriter Brooke McClymont and AFL star Nathan Buckley.

Dylan’s charity of choice was Lifeline, and he shared in an interview with WHO Magazine how his campmates helped him open up.

“We all went in there with stories to tell and messages to try and get out there, about our charities, and reasons why we have chosen our charities,” Dylan explained.

“It did feel very safe … right down to the fact that we formed such strong bonds so quickly … a couple of days and we were family, and that feeling is going to remain forever. I feel really lucky to have met these amazing humans from all walks of life.”

Season Nine, 2023 Winner

Returning to Africa for the first time since 2020, Season 9’s celebrities included Married at First Sight contestant Domenica Calarco, comedian Peter Helliar, chef Anna Polyviou, and television presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley. After 30 days in camp, Australian netballer Liz Ellis took home the winner’s trophy, with boxer Harry Garside and Below Deck star Aesha Scott coming in second and third, respectively.

Liz spoke with New Idea magazine after her win, and she couldn’t contain her excitement.

“I’m on top of the world but I can’t quite figure out how all of this has happened you know,” Liz shared. 

“It’s just amazing, and surreal and funny. I feel really grateful, grateful that people voted for me and grateful that I had a brilliant time.”

Season Ten, 2024 Winner

The Season 10 celebrities in the jungle included Michelle Bridges, Khanh Ong, Brittany Hockley and Denise Drysdale. After 3 weeks in camp, Big Brother alumni Skye Wheatley took home the winner’s trophy, with TV presenter Tristan MacManus and Love Island star Callum Hole coming in second and third, respectively.

The mother of two became visibly emotional when they won, saying:

“I’m shocked! Really shocked. I will say it again – I feel absolutely blessed to have had this opportunity and to go through the things that I went through and to do it for these three amazing boys and the rest of the world to show.”
