Veteran Matildas midfielder Katrina Gorry has welcomed her second child

Just weeks before the Paris 2024 Olympics gets underway…
Two women and a child outside; one woman pregnant, the child touching her belly, all smiling warmly.

Matildas star Katrina Gorry and her fiancée Swedish footballer Clara Markstedt have welcomed their second child into the world.

Taking to Instagram to announce the exciting news, the couple wrote in a joint post:

“Our sweet baby boy, Koby Peter David Gorry.

“Born 9/6 at 10:36am, 3660g & 50cm. Big sister is absolutely in love and our hearts are so full.”

Little Koby’s middle name is obviously a sweet tribute to Clara’s late father, Peter Markstedt, who passed away during last year’s World Cup.

Katrina gave birth to her and Clara’s first child, Harper, in 2021, whereas Clara gave birth to Koby.

Despite suffering a serious ankle injury in March of this year, Katrina was included in the 18-player Olympics squad announced by Matildas coach Tony Gustavsson earlier this month.

This means Katrina will be heading to Paris in a few weeks time.

Hopefully, we’ll catch glimpses of both Harper (who became an unofficial mascot of the Matildas team during the World Cup) and little Koby at some of the matches!

In April, Katrina opened up about how her injury was making motherhood difficult.

“It’s tough being injured while being an athlete but I’ve found over the past two weeks that it’s tougher being an injured parent,” she said.

“The disappointment in Harper’s voice when I can’t come to the playground with her or just do the simplest of things like wipe her when she’s finished on the toilet, chase her around the house or just let her climb all over me,” she continued.

“She doesn’t understand why and her emotions have been so big because of it. It’s definitely taught me to be grateful for my health and to never take the small things for granted.”
