In February 2023, Meryl, Martin, and his longtime friend and collaborator Steve Martin attended the opening night after-party for Pictures From Home together.
By late 2023, Meryl and Martin were playing lovers in Only Murders in the Building.
Their on-screen chemistry was next-level and led many fans to believe the two were dating in real life.
On January 7, 2024, the pair sat next to each other at the 2024 Golden Globes…
And just 5 days later, on January 12, Meryl and Martin attended the AFI Awards together. This sent dating rumours into overdrive.
A spokesperson for Martin quickly shut it down though and told People that the two “are just very good friends, nothing more.”
Furthermore, on January 28, Martin appeared on the Club Random with Bill Maher podcast and insisted there was nothing romantic going on between him and Meryl.
“We’re not a couple. We are just very close friends,” he said.
However, speculation started up again when Martin and Meryl attended the Season 4 premiere of Only Murders in the Building in August 2024; the two held hands as they walked the red carpet.
Martin swiftly told The Hollywood Reporter that he and The Devil Wears Prada star are nothing more than pals.
