The delightful soccer-oriented series Ted Lasso might be returning for Season 4.
From 2020 to 2023, Ted Lasso ran for three seasons and won 13 Primetime Emmys.
The final episode (spoiler!) saw the titular character, played by Jason Sudeikis, leave AFC Richmond and head back to America to be closer to his son.
But rumours have begun to circulate that that wasn’t actually the end…
Will there be a Season 4 of Ted Lasso?
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Studio is currently trying to get Ted Lasso Season 4 off the ground.
Sources told the publication that Warner Bros. have already secured some cast members to return for a fourth season and all that’s left to sort is budget approval and scheduling.
Apparently, if everything works out the way the studio is hoping, production on Ted Lasso Season 4 will begin in early 2025.
Who’s returning for Ted Lasso Season 4?
If Season 4 does go ahead, Warner Bros. has reportedly secured options on Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift.
These three played AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, pro-footballer Roy Kent and Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins respectively.
The studio is in the process of reaching out to Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Juno Temple.
According to Deadline, Phil Dunster – who played the hilarious footballer Jamie Tart – may not return due to presumable conflicts; Phil is currently working on two other series, The Devil’s Hour and Surface.
How many seasons of Ted Lasso were planned?
In 2023, right before Season 3 premiered, Jason Sudeikis told Deadline that he and fellow Ted Lasso developers Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly originally planned for the series to go for three seasons.
“This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell,” Jason said.
