It’s official: Reuben De Melo has been crowned the winner of The Voice Australia 2024!
Obviously, Reuben was ecstatic when he won.
“I never thought I’d get this far,” Reuben said.
“It’s crazy! Thanks to my family… Here’s to you.”
To backtrack, the Grand Finale kicked off with judge Adam Lambert performing his Grammy-nominated hit Whataya Want From Me.
Then throughout the episode, each of the Grand Finalists got the opportunity to perform both a solo and a duet with their ‘coach’.
Reuben and LeAnn Rimes went first and performed Coldplay’s Fix You.
Even though LeAnn chose the song, Reuben admitted he had a serious connection with it.
“Fix You… It takes me back to my mates in the mines, and it’s kind of like an ode to them,” he said.
Next up was SKŸE who performed Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls as a solo.
He received a lengthy standing ovation for his emotional rendition.
Annie Jones then performed her solo: 5 Seconds of Summer’s Youngblood.
“She is awesome! She is so good,” Guy Sebastian exclaimed as soon as she was done.
Jaedyn Randall and Kate Miller-Heidke took to the stage next and performed Walking On A Dream by Empire of the Sun as their duet.
Their rendition was a hauntingly beautiful, ethereal ballad version of the pop song.
Reuben then returned to the stage for his solo, The Animals’ House of the Rising Sun.
Next was SKŸE and Guy who performed Against All Odds by Phil Collins as their duet.
To no-one’s surprise, Annie and Adam showed off their strong pipes with a grungy rock song for their duet: Heart’s Barracuda.
Jaedyn then sang Snow Angel by Reneé Rapp for her solo.
And the last performance for the evening was Keith Urban.
The former The Voice Australia judge and four-time Grammy Award winner performed his latest single Messed Up As Me.
And finally, the winner of The Voice Australia 2024 was crowned!
As we mentioned above, Reuben was the lucky Grand Finalist to win.
Reuben will now receive $100,000 as well as a ‘music masterclass and industry recording development’ package.
